After being away for weeks, my blog statistics were decreased a bit. Normal, but there were people coming back (thanks to every one of them!). Now I’m back and I’m just so thrilled and excited to get back to work. I do know that statistics are not that incredible important and so on and so on. But I love how it’s growing. Is that bad? No, not at all. Today I have listed my favorite methods to grow your blog traffic. Want to read further? Then go ahead!
1 Social Media
Of course! Social media is one of the most important channels to get your blog traffic go crazy. My personal favorite is -as you might know- Twitter. But hey, Facebook is coming strong. Instagram: not so much. I just don’t get it. But there are so many bloggers who prefer Instagram above all the other social media-channels. Everyone his own opinion, I guess? Later in this list, you’ll find what’s the best times for posting on several social media-channels.
Even though, I’m not a great fan (already said this a billion times) of giveways; it is a great way to get more blog traffic. It’s like a win-win situation; you get tons of followers/visitors and someone gets something for free. Nice, indeed. But remember that you probably won’t get loyal followers doing this method.
Newsletters, you’ll find them on large blogs, but on small blogs as well. After setting up my MailChimp-account, I found myself incredible lost. But anyway, it remains something important on your blog. You probably wonder why this gets you more traffic. Wel, at the end of the week (or when you send out your newsletters) people will read the newsletter and hopefully they will go to your blog.
Imagine that comments were a chain. You’ll start on your own blog, comment on other blogs (be sure to do this on a good way) and then people will start noticing you. And they’ll probably click on your gravatar (and so on) and comment on your blog too!
5 Facebook Ads
I have tried this once and it definitely worked for me. It had not the result what I expected, because it were like 100 unique visitors on one day. Hm, ok. It were many, but I just have these unrealistic expectations. So whatever. What I liked the most was that people were really engaging with you. So keep that in mind!
6 Great Times To Post on Social Media
Like this blog said (researched 16 studies); it isn’t a contingence that you get more traffic on one day than another. I will summarize it for you, but go check that blog out!
Between 1 PM and 4 PM // Friday until Sunday
It depends // Weekdays, but monday is the most popular
Between 8 PM and 11 PM // Saturdays
Between 12 PM and 3 PM, most popular (5 PM) // Weekdays
When I translated my blog from Dutch to English, It increased with almost 24%. And I’m very proud of this. My English isn’t perfect, but people are still reading it, so it won’t be that bad. I think. Why you must translate your blog; you have tons more visitors then. You have just more reach to spread your blogposts. Imagine writing in just one language that’s rare in the world; think!
8 Catchy titles
It’s very important to write catchy headlines. You must catch the readers eye and you have to write so visitors will stay. To be honest, I’m still having some difficulties with this. But there are a lot of printables with good headline templates.
Freebies are maybe the second most great way for getting people to your blog. People just love free things, don’t they? I wrote an article and gave a download away (a Media Kit). There came a bunch of people to this article. Hint: give away the freebie as a download so that they will subscribe to your newsletter.
10 Interesting activities
What makes an article goes viral; is the uniqueness. Try to do as many creative and unique activities as possible. Do things what other people inspire or what is just so uncommon. This can be doing dangerous, adrenaline activities (be safe!), discovering new places and other interesting stuff. Be creative and people will come anyway.
